Project Summary:
The Brief
We were approached by Hox Design Architects in May 2016 to design, supply and install an outdoor dining canopy capable of providing year-round protection from the rain and sun.
With the number of pupils at secondary schools on the rise, we are frequently challenged to create durable and sheltered outdoor dining spaces for education facilities. Haileybury Turnford needed to extend their dining services in a manner that was both cost-effective and that offered a long term solution.
The Alton tensile fabric conic canopy was created with outdoor dining in mind, with integral gutters and a modular design that makes it possible to cover any area from 3m2 and up. This made it a perfect fit for this project as we could fabricate the Alton to the required size – in this case, it was an area of 10m x 10m. We were delighted to have created a sheltered space that has been used consistently for 5 years and will continue to serve its purpose for at least another 15 years.
