Haven Caister-on-Sea Holiday Park

We were delighted to be involved in the Adventure Village development at the popular Haven Holiday Park near Great Yarmouth. This brand-new addition to the holiday park saw the introduction of various fun-filled activities including aerial adventure, 4×4 off-roaders and segways. There is also karting hire to allow children and families to get around the site more easily.

We were tasked with creating a permanently covered area for the karts so that they could be kept outside all year round. The client wanted a canopy to protect the longevity of the machines and to keep the karts dry at all times, because no one likes sitting on a wet seat!

The project required a bespoke design due to the unusual layout of the karting storage. This resulted in us designing and fabricating a tensile fabric hypar canopy consisting of nine posts with alternating heights to create a saddle shape. It’s important to have differing post heights on a design like this because it allows for effective rainwater run-off and creates the tension sufficient of guaranteeing the structure against all normal weather conditions.

The project wasn’t without its challenges – the UK lockdown caused by the COVID pandemic being one of them, but we still managed to meet the required installation schedule. Most important is the positive feedback we received from the client and the holiday goers that have subsequently visited the holiday park.
